Introdução (Message)

For the period of 2007-2013, the promotion of ICT is one of the main priorities for the use of Structural Funds. Algarve / Portugal is a preferential region and counts with 21,5 billion EUR to mobilising relevant policy instruments, programmes and stakeholders. This is a major opportunity to use ICT to accelerating the economic growth and reduce the digital divide in Portuguese regions.

With a practical approach, the event will provide scenarios, case studies, and business models to promote discussion with Portuguese national and regional stakeholders from Industry, Academia, National and Regional agencies involved in ICT development and the use of Structural Funds.

Main topics:

•  Efficient use of ICT Structural Funds for definition of policies, creation of strategic research and   innovation agendas and plans
•  Future Internet and European Economic Recovery Plan
•  Case studies for supporting Portuguese regions in the utilization of Structural Funds to develop new opportunities of growth through ICT R&D investments

Main Results:

•  The expected results of this workshop are to encourage national and regional players to think strategically about the importance of Structural funds for fast ICT expansion, as a means to accelerating economic recovery.
